Industry news and developments GPS Galileo GLONASS BUSINESS THE DEFENSE Raytheon Awarded Navy PNT Contract Raytheon Company has been awarded a 322 million U S Navy contract for the GPS based Positioning Navigation and Timing Service program for Navy surface and subsurface platforms GPNTS designed to replace the current Navigation Sensor System Interface supports mission critical real time PNT data services including weapons combat systems and other command control communications and intelligence systems that require PNT information Raytheon is providing an open architecture solution that allows hosting of data in a common computing environment and system of systems architecture enhancing the ships operability with onboard systems the company said Kevin Peppe vice president of Seapower Capability Systems cites Raytheons experience with ship systems and integration as key to the contract award Other Raytheon contracts include the LPD 17 amphibious ship DDG 1000 destroyer and the open architecture Ship Self Defense System The DDG 1000 class destroyer program includes Raytheons Next Generation Navigation System NAVDDX and Raytheon is the prime contractor for mission systems equipment NAVDDX is a modern open architecture solution that distributes navigation and high precision time data to ship mission systems Raytheon IDS will be responsible for the design development testing and delivery of GPNTS The company has partnered with Argon ST an experienced provider of systems and sensors for the command control communications computers combat systems intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance markets Work on the contract will be performed at Raytheon IDS Expeditionary Warfare Center San Diego California and Argon STs facility in Fairfax Virginia THE GPNTS CONTRACT follows Raytheons success designing the Next Generation Navigation System NAVDDX produced as part of the DDG 1000 class destroyer program The DDG 1000 class destroyer is the latest evolution in warfighting technology for surface combatant ships artists concept OUR VISION FOR GPS ANY POWER ANY FREQUENCY ANY DENSITY ANYWHERE www locatacorp com YOUR OWN GPS The Local Constellation is launched ION 2011 The trademarks Locata GPS 20 Your Own GPS and Local Constellation are registered to Locata Corporation GPS World September 2011 www gpsworld com 28
